The Best Snacks to Maintain Your Child’s Healthy Teeth

A display of fruitAs a parent, you know that kids love snacks! You may also wonder what types of snacks are best for your child’s overall health and his or her teeth. While sugary snacks are sometimes unavoidable, there are also a variety of healthy treats to offer your children. Eating too much sugar can cause your child’s tooth enamel to weaken and become vulnerable to decay.

Snacks for Healthy Teeth

Healthy snacks are good for your child’s body and oral health, but they aren’t always the most popular. There are a few ways that you can make healthy snacks more flavorful and more appealing to your kids. Below are a few healthy snack suggestions:

  • Low-fat yogurt with berries
  • Cheese and crackers
  • Celery sticks with peanut butter or cream cheese
  • Fresh veggies and hummus
  • Apple wedges with peanut butter

The above snacks are all great ways to satisfy your child’s hunger and keep his or her oral and overall health intact. The varieties in flavors and textures are sure to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters, as well.

No matter what your child snacks on throughout the day, the best way to achieve and maintain good dental health is to make sure your child is brushing at least twice a day, flossing daily, and visiting Great Outdoors Pediatric Dentistry every six months for a dental cleaning and exam. To make your child’s appointment, please contact our Dover, New Hampshire pediatric dentist. Find Dover teeth cleaning for kids here.
